Actions speak louder than words, Doug

Did you know that Doug Ford and the Ontario PC Party have embraced "carbon pricing" - which is a carbon tax?

And in the process they have made it harder for any future government to Axe the Carbon Tax in Ontario?

In 2020, the Ford PCs cut a deal with Justin Trudeau to implement their own "made in Ontario" carbon tax on industry - BEFORE the Supreme Court ruled on whether Trudeau's federal carbon tax was constitutional.

The Ford government expects to bring in over $2 billion by 2030 with this provincial carbon tax. Click here to read about it.

Then, as my husband Jim explained in an op-ed, the Ford PCs threw their court challenge against the federal carbon tax on fuel by conceding two of the three legal arguments to the Trudeau government. Click here to read Jim's column.

Ontarians are now forced to deal with two carbon taxes: Trudeau's tax on gas and Ford's tax on consumer goods.

Knowing this, you can understand our disbelief when the Ford PCs tried to paint themselves as "true blue" conservatives in the days leading up to Trudeau's April 1st carbon tax hike.

In a frenzy of political posturing, Doug Ford and the PCs proclaimed they oppose Trudeau's carbon tax.

The problem? All of this is just political rhetoric meant to deceive Ontarians and conceal the fact that the PC Party supports and has implemented carbon pricing and carbon taxes in Ontario.

The Ontario PC Party hopes that if they keep throwing out conservative rhetoric, Ontarians will be fooled.

It's our job at the New Blue Party of Ontario, to make sure we continue our history of fighting carbon pricing and carbon taxes.

In 2017, before there was a PPC, and before Pierre Poilievre claimed he would "Axe the Carbon Tax," Jim Karahalios started and led the successful Axe the Carbon Tax campaign after the Ontario PC Party first unveiled their far-left plans for Ontarians.

And while I was sitting as a New Blue Party MPP, I led the charge against carbon taxes in the Ontario Legislature.

In September 2020, I questioned the Ford government on their own industrial carbon tax. Click here to watch that exchange.

With your help, we will continue to advocate against tax-and-spend schemes and hold the Ford PCs to account when their actions mirror the Liberals - regardless of what rhetoric they use.

I hope you will consider a contribution to help us keep building and prepare for the upcoming provincial by-elections in three ridings. Click here to chip in!

Every little bit helps.

Thank you for your support!
