Ford PCs Support Trudeau's Unchecked Immigration

Tuesday, September 10, 2024

When it comes to mass immigration, the Ontario PC Party is nothing more than an extension of Justin Trudeau's Liberal government.

Earlier this summer, Doug Ford bragged about his PC government's full cooperation with the Trudeau Liberals' immigration agenda.

"Last year, we brought in over 800,000 people, so we’re bringing in more people than Texas and Florida combined. We’re over 16 million people — we’ll surpass New York State in probably another 5-6 years."

— Doug Ford at July 22, 2024 press conference

And at a press conference last year, Ford made the following statement:

"We need just to bring more people in. Passport or no passport, let's continue bringing people in ... we're working hand in hand in collaboration with the Federal Government on all sorts of issues. That's their jurisdiction, but we welcome them. We need more people here in Ontario. We had a record by the way — 435,000 people landed in Ontario, fastest growing region in North America, bar none. Not even close to any other place."

Is it any wonder we are facing a housing crisis?

While Ford boasts about immigration reaching unprecedented highs, ordinary Ontarians who would have easily been able to afford a home 5 years ago are being pushed out of the housing market.

The average home price in Ontario has doubled since 2014, driven in large part by skyrocketing demand and limited supply.

The number of new home builds is nowhere close to the number of immigrants Ontario is taking in.

Last year, only 88,000 new housing units were built while 446,000 new permanent residents, temporary residents, and refugees (43.8% of all immigrants to Canada) arrived in Ontario.

Ontario’s housing shortage is only worsened by Ford’s fervent support of Trudeau’s mass immigration agenda.

A truly conservative provincial government would push back on the federal Liberal government’s directives and balance the political landscape.

That is not happening in Ontario.

The Ford PCs aren't just passively accepting Trudeau's plans — they're enthusiastically embracing them. Whether it's unchecked immigration, carbon taxes, "green" energy schemes or electric vehicle subsidies, the Ford PC government has aligned itself with every major Liberal policy and failed to offer any real opposition.

The New Blue Party of Ontario is the only true and blue option on the provincial ballot.

Our vision is clear: an Ontario government that stands up to the Trudeau Liberals, not one that rubber-stamps their policies.

That means pushing to slow the current rate of immigration so that we can focus on protecting the economic well-being of the people already living here and ensuring our infrastructure can support growth.
