Government Needs to Get Out of the Way
When the Doug Ford PCs took office, Ontario’s provincial debt stood at $323 billion.
Today, it’s projected to reach $459 billion — a staggering $136 billion increase since 2018.
Nothing about this says “fiscal responsibility.”
But it’s exactly what we have come to expect from the Ontario PC Party: refusal after refusal to rein in spending, especially when it comes to the bloated public sector.
In fact, a recent study from the Fraser Institute found that Ontario public-sector workers receive, on average, nearly 8% higher compensation than comparable private-sector workers.
At the same time, the small business owners and entrepreneurs that create jobs are being squeezed harder than ever.
The truth is that government does not create jobs.
Government needs to get out of the way and allow the free market to thrive.
Instead, for the last eight years the Ontario PCs have chosen higher taxation and increased debt, all while growing the size of government.
And after eight years in power, the cost of living — let alone doing business — in Ontario is higher now than it was under the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals.
That’s why the New Blue Party is committed to:
Scrapping the Ford PCs’ industrial carbon tax
Cutting hydro rates by cancelling wasteful “green” energy contracts
Slashing the provincial portion of the HST
But building the only viable alternative to the Liberal-loving Ontario PC Party can’t happen without grassroots support.
