“Green” Energy is Costing Us Again
Doug Ford and Stephen Lecce recently attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Skyview 2 battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Edwardsburgh Cardinal, Ontario.
This lithium-ion BESS facility will cost Ontario taxpayers nearly a billion dollars and will be built on 30 acres of farmland.
Ontario government officials characterize the project as necessary to store electricity during off-peak (low-demand) hours and release it back to the grid during peak (high-demand) hours.
Years of wasting Ontarians’ money on wind energy projects, rather than shutting them down, have finally caught up to the Ford government.
The PCs’ push for BESS is an extension of their continuing support for Liberal-era wind turbine contracts.
Instead of focusing on lowering costs, the Ontario PCs are now spending a billion taxpayer dollars to cover up years of bad decisions, all while ignoring the root cause.
Bringing down electricity rates starts with cancelling Ontario’s wasteful “green” energy contracts and making sure they never return.
