Why Did the Ford PCs Look the Other Way?

Robert Land Academy is a private, “military-style” boarding school for boys in Wellandport, Ontario.

Since 1978, it has enrolled an average of 160 boys annually, between the 5th and 12th grades. And for nearly as long, the school has faced allegations of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse at the school.

A recent report describes the dozens of former students that have come forward alleging various types of abuse at the institution and the over 80 lawsuits that have been filed.

It describes that finally, after decades in operation, Robert Land is closing at the end of this month.

It also reveals Robert Land’s ties to the Ontario PC Party.

Former PC Leader, Tim Hudak, has been on Robert Land’s board of directors since 2015, and is now the Chairman of the board.

And in 2023, former PC Deputy Leader and Health Minister, Christine Elliott, accepted an award for “leadership and service” from Robert Land.

Why didn’t the Ford PCs step in long ago to strip the school of its credentials, or at least investigate the allegations?

We may never know.

The Ford PCs talk a lot about “protecting Ontario.”

But are they?

The New Blue Party will always stand up for truth and integrity—not for insiders and elites.
