We Must Do Better. 3 Days to Apply...

Tuesday, January 18, 2022

We are starting 2022 with a ground swell of momentum as the single best political option - not run by left-wing ideologues, lobbyists, or their paid organizers - uniting Ontarians to challenge Doug Ford and the Ontario PC Party in next June's provincial election.

There are three days left until the first candidate application deadline - Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at 5pm!

It is our goal to select candidates in as many constituencies (124 in total) as possible after the first deadline. After January 20th, constituencies will only be available for applications from potential candidates, if a candidate has not been selected or if our founding board and local leaders determine that more applications are necessary.

We are sticking to a three stage process in our candidate application process because restoring democratic integrity in our politics starts with building a New Blue Party that is grassroots driven.

We will not become just like the Ontario PC Party or those other politicians who try to sound like us but behave just like the establishment they claim to oppose.

The Ontario PC Party run their party like they run Ontario - they no longer have an internal candidate selection process as they went from determining their candidates and party president in rigged elections to doing away with all elections and having their leader pick all their candidates.

Others mimic the New Blue and claim they too are anti-establishment. But they act just like the establishment they want to become. Here are two articles, with excerpts, describing the deceitful claims of those who pretend to be anti-establishment but who behave just like the establishment they claim to oppose.

1. Something smells wretched in Ontario politics... Derek Sloan.... by Gregory Staley of Diverge Media. Excerpt: The Ontario Party has almost no brand recognition but nonetheless has MPP Rick Nicholls on board – the same Nicholls that said his removal from the Ontario PC party was a “forced retirement” and when asked what’s next in life, said that he may “become a government lobbyist.” In a CBC article, Nicholls said “he is currently helping the Ontario party with policy development, but hasn’t decided yet if he’ll run again in the next election”... Sloan is the leader of the Ontario party – but doesn’t know if he’ll run as a candidate or “just help” ... According to Mr. Karahalios, every time he tried to set up a meeting to discuss New Blue, Mr. Sloan would respond by saying that he’d “let him know” but no meeting would ever materialize. One would rightfully wonder if Mr. Sloan was avoiding the conversation altogether.

2. Emails reveal why Maxime Bernier's People's Party can't use its name in Ontario's next election... Ethan Lou: Excerpt: Clarke showed a series of email messages sent in 2021 in which Koltyn Wallar, a communications assistant for the federal People’s Party, invited him to run under the party’s banner in return for surrendering the rights to its name in Ontario... In a March email, Wallar raised the naming issue with Clarke, who has run unsuccessfully for mayor six times, most recently in 2018. Wallar described what he viewed as similarities between his party’s positions and Clarke’s. “Like yourself, we want to fight against the establishment and help the people before special interests,” he wrote. Clarke responded that he had previously reached out to the People’s Party but had not received a response. Wallar apologized, praising Clarke and saying the party would “highly consider” his application to run under its banner in the 2021 federal election if he gave up the name. "We will also invite you to be a candidate in any riding of your choice for next year’s general Ontario election,” Wallar added. Although Clarke responded positively, the talks foundered after he posted about the matter on Facebook and added the other people to the email conversation. Wallar asked Clarke to take the posts down. That rubbed him the wrong way, Clarke said in an interview. “Hold it, you’re supposed to be the People’s Party, and you want to keep things away from the people?” he said.

We are looking for candidates who are eager to bring the right change to Ontario politics and who agree with the New Blues principles and mission statement as found in our party constitution.

And it will include in our New Blue platform and plan historical proposals to reform and strengthen our democracy.

We hope you will consider being part of the New Blue team by applying to run before the first deadline of Thursday, January 20th, at 5pm - www.newblueontario.com/candidate-application

And if you can, consider contributing to keep our momentum building.
