28K Lives Lost to MAiD in Ontario
Recent data from the Office of the Chief Coroner reveals that 28,637 Ontarians have died by Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) since its legalization.
This means that nearly 30% of total MAiD deaths in Canada have taken place in Ontario.
What was promised to be a rare, last-resort measure has spiralled out of control. The data shows a continuous surge in euthanasia deaths year after year.
Administering lethal medication to Ontarians is not health care—it is the easy way out of supplying robust palliative care and support for those with disabilities.
And while the federal Liberals have expanded this program, the Ford PCs have not lifted a finger to protect vulnerable citizens.
For eight years, the Ontario PCs have quietly used OHIP to fund the MAiD agenda, spending taxpayer money on the expansion of euthanasia while failing to protect healthcare workers’ freedom of conscience.
Instead of defending the vulnerable, the PCs operate as a provincial rubber stamp for the federal Liberal agenda.
The New Blue is Ontario’s only party where grassroots members—not left-wing ideologues or lobbyists—decide our policies.
Here is one important policy that our members proposed and ratified at our first Policy & Planning Conference:
Policy 36: Stop the MAiD Agenda
The New Blue Party will work to stop the expansion of Medical Assistance In Dying (MAiD) for seniors, those with mental or physical disabilities, or veterans and will instead promote palliative care to enable dying with dignity and care.
We are building a movement to hold the Ford PCs accountable and restore true blue principles to Queen’s Park.
