Five Years Ago, Belinda Said "No."

Five years ago, a line was drawn.

On July 21, 2020, Cambridge MPP Belinda Karahalios took a historic stand in the Ontario Legislature.

She was the only Ontario PC MPP to vote against Bill 195, Doug Ford’s authoritarian lockdown legislation.

For standing up for your freedoms, Belinda was removed from the Ontario PC Party — the only politician in Canada removed from her party or lose a position in government for voting against lockdown legislation.

Thank you, Belinda.

What happened next changed Ontario politics.

In October 2020, Belinda and Jim Karahalios founded the New Blue Party of Ontario.

We registered 124 riding associations — one for every electoral district in the province.

We hosted our first in-person Policy & Planning Conference, where our members debated and voted on policy — resulting in our first-ever grassroots-driven policy declaration.

In our first two elections, the New Blue entrenched itself as Ontario’s fifth largest political party, behind the PCs, Liberals, NDP, and Greens.

Now, we’re working hard to ensure every New Blue riding and candidate meets their Elections Ontario filing obligations.
