Talk Is Cheap — Especially At Queen’s Park

Doug Ford’s PC Party is changing the rules to push through a landfill expansion near Dresden, in the riding of Lambton–Kent–Middlesex, and reward their friends.

Dresden residents face the prospect of a large-scale, province-wide waste import operation within walking distance from their downtown—approved without their consent or local zoning input.

Thousands of Lambton–Kent–Middlesex constituents contacted their PC MPP, Steve Pinsonneault, to voice their opposition to the plan.

He told them he was against it.

But when the vote came, he didn’t show up.

He didn’t vote against Bill 5.

He didn’t stand with his community.

He disappeared.

Thankfully, the Chatham–Kent region had real choices in the last election. Rhonda Jubenville and Andy Fisher ran for the New Blue Party with courage and principle — standing up for local voices and refusing to play political games. As a city councillor, Rhonda continues to speak out for residents who feel abandoned by their PC MPP.

Pinsonneault’s recent absence is part of a growing pattern in the Ontario PC caucus: pretend to oppose legislation, say the right thing to constituents, then quietly vanish when it matters most.

We saw this throughout COVID, when PC MPPs expressed sympathy to constituents fired under their own government’s vaccine mandates, but never once stood up to Doug Ford and the party brass when it came time to vote at Queen’s Park.

The New Blue Party is calling it out.

We are the only party holding Doug Ford’s Progressive government to account and offering real opposition.

We don’t take orders from lobbyists or the left-wing ideologues who control Ontario’s establishment parties.

We don’t make backroom deals.

And our first New Blue MPP, Belinda Karahalios, never disappeared when it came time to vote.
