Five Years of COVID-19 Vaccine Passports

Five years ago today, after unsuccessfully lobbying the Trudeau government for a Canada-wide COVID-19 vaccine passport, Doug Ford's Ontario PCs imposed their own.

This system restricted two million Ontarians' access to restaurants, fitness centres, event spaces, theatres, concerts, and even taxpayer-owned venues.

Today, dozens of hospitals and post-secondary schools in Ontario still demand proof of COVID-19 vaccination for workers and students.

The Ford PCs hold a majority government and could end these discriminatory restrictions today. They refuse to act because they are nothing more than an arm of the federal Liberal government.

The New Blue Party of Ontario remains opposed to mandatory vaccination policies, whether imposed by government, institutions, or employers.

Moreover, the New Blue is Ontario's only provincial party with a fully grassroots policy process. Members like you proposed and voted for the commitments that form our Policy Declaration! Here is one of them:

The New Blue Party supports ending the COVID-19 vaccine mandates that still exist in hospitals in Ontario, as well as other healthcare sector workplaces, public sector workplaces, private sector workplaces, and post-secondary educational institutions.

We will continue to advocate for legislation and penalties that protect the employment and access rights of all Ontarians, regardless of vaccination status.
