Ford’s Alberta MOUs: Empty Words.
Last week, the Ford PCs announced two “Memorandums of Understanding” with the Alberta government — non-binding documents that amount to little more than political theatre.
While PC operatives are claiming this as evidence of Ford’s economic leadership, the truth is clear: these MOUs commit Ontario to nothing. They are not legally binding, and don’t deliver a single tangible result for Ontarians.
This is the same Ford government that had no problem obligating Ontario taxpayers to hand billions of dollars to foreign multinationals like Stellantis and Volkswagen to produce electric vehicle parts — in partnership with the Trudeau Liberals.
So ask yourself: Why is Doug Ford willing to lock Ontarians into billion-dollar “green” deals with global corporations, but not commit to real, productive work with Alberta to strengthen our country?
Just one day after these MOUs were released, Doug Ford appeared on CTV heaping praise on Liberal prime minister Mark Carney:
“Prime Minister Carney is no Justin Trudeau … he’s going to listen to the premiers and straighten out the federal government once and for all.”
Carney? The same Mark Carney who is forecasting a $500 billion federal spending plan, including a projected $92 billion deficit?
Doug Ford doesn’t seem to know the Liberals he’s backing — he just knows he’s backing them.
Meanwhile, Ford’s Calgary trip resulted in nothing but pancake photo ops with Stampede goers.
The Ford PCs are not interested in taking meaningful action to strengthen Ontario’s private sector. If they were, they would have axed their provincial carbon tax on industry, slashed hydro rates, and reduced their record-setting deficit — just as we have been calling for over the past five years.
The New Blue Party is the only party standing up for Ontario families, workers, and small businesses — not lobbyists, not political insiders, and not foreign corporations.
