This Is Healthcare Under the Ford PCs.
Roger Foley is a 49-year-old man living with a degenerative neurological condition called spinocerebellar ataxia. It affects his movement, coordination, and sensitivity to light. He needs a medical lift to eat, drink, and take medication.
Before 2016, Roger lived independently in his London apartment with the help of home care. But after repeated care failures, he was hospitalized—and has been stuck at Victoria Hospital ever since.
For years, Roger has asked for Direct Home Care Funding so he can hire qualified help and move back home. Instead of approving his application, the system denied him—and hospital staff allegedly began pressuring him to apply for MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying).
According to The Dallas Express, since April 2025, staff have allegedly brought up suicide “almost every night.” Roger says they cut off food, water, medicine, and bathroom support—leaving him on an IV and growing weaker. He was first offered MAiD as early as November 2016, just months after it was legalized.
This is not health care.
This is coercion.
The Ontario PCs have been in power since 2018. In seven years, they have done nothing to stop or even question the growing use of euthanasia in our health care system. Over 14,800 Ontarians have been euthanized as of 2023, according to the Office of the Chief Coroner.
While hospital bureaucrats deny basic care to people like Roger, they push vulnerable patients toward MAiD as a “solution.”
The New Blue Party of Ontario rejects this agenda.
We are also Ontario’s only provincial party with a grassroots policy process — where you, our members, propose and vote on the ideas that shape our party.
At our 2024 Policy & Planning Conference, our members voted in favour of the following policy:
36. Stop the MAID Agenda
The New Blue Party will work to stop the expansion of Medical Assistance In Dying (MAID) for seniors, those with mental or physical disabilities, or veterans and will instead promote palliative care to enable dying with dignity and care.
Roger’s story is not an isolated case—it’s a warning. And it’s time to act.
With your support, we can end this practice and rebuild a health care system that values every life.
And we will continue to challenge the left, balance the narrative, and change the course in Ontario!
