Ontarians Are Paying More Under Ford
In 2018, the Ontario PCs were elected on a clear promise: lower taxes.
Yet after nearly eight years under a PC government, Ontarians are actually facing a higher tax burden than they did under the Wynne Liberals.
According to the Fraser Institute:
Ontario’s provincial tax burden rose to 13.4% of GDP in 2023–24, up from 12.1% in 2017–18;
Per-person provincial taxes increased to $9,406, up from $8,736;
No personal or corporate income tax rates have been reduced since the PCs took office;
After intentionally botching their appeal of the federal carbon tax, the Ford PCs imposed their very own provincial carbon tax on industry.
In other words, the Ford PCs did not roll back Liberal-era taxation — they continued it.
Ontarians are desperate for tax relief and deserve a true blue government that follows through.
That is why the New Blue Party exists.
Unlike the Ford PCs, New Blue is committed to principled, grassroots-driven policy, voted on by members like you. Here are two examples from our Policy Declaration:
Policy 17. Axe Ontario’s Carbon Tax
The New Blue Party supports Axing the Carbon Tax, including the federal Liberal government’s carbon tax and the Ontario PC government’s industrial carbon tax and carbon pricing system.
Policy 18. Provide Tax Relief
The New Blue Party supports tax relief and cutting Ontario’s HST from 13% to 10% with a long-term objective of scrapping the HST entirely.
