Ontario is "Closed for Business" Under the Ford PCs
The Ford PCs are threatening to ban Crown Royal from LCBO shelves if the company goes ahead with plans to move an Ontario bottling plant to the U.S. next year.
Instead of blaming the business, the Ontario PCs should look in the mirror.
Crown Royal is still mashed, distilled, and aged in Canada.
The only reason they’re looking to move part of their operation is because Ontario has become an expensive, over-regulated, high-tax province.
The Ford PCs promised to “open Ontario for business.” But after seven years in power, they’ve done the opposite. Under the PCs, there has been:
No tax relief for workers or employers.
No reduction in hydro rates.
No rollback of the endless red tape that drives up costs and pushes employers out.
Instead, the PCs actually raised taxes when they quietly imposed a “carbon pricing” scheme on Ontario industry.
Unless you’re one of the lucky corporations Doug Ford has arbitrarily chosen to shower with massive taxpayer subsidies — like certain EV battery manufacturers — you’re left to fend for yourself against some of the highest taxes and hydro rates in North America.
A real conservative government would focus on reducing taxes, cutting red tape, and getting government out of the way so that Ontario businesses can compete and thrive.
When global companies see Ontario’s rising costs, inconsistent policies, and government interference by the Ford PCs, they get the message loud and clear: Don’t bring your business here.
The New Blue Party is the only viable, true blue alternative that stands for free enterprise, lower taxes, and less government interference.
It’s time to build a province where businesses want to expand — not leave.
