Standing for Life
Today, the annual March for Life rally is taking place on Parliament Hill.
Most of the New Blue Party’s 2025 candidates were pro-life, and we are proud to be the only non-PC controlled party in Ontario that welcomes and promotes pro-life voices.
The Ontario PC Party once pretended to stand for life. But in government, they’ve been just as hostile to pro-life values as the Liberals and NDP.
Here are just three examples:
1. Ontario PCs Support “Bubble Zone” Arrests
Back in 2017, the Ontario Liberals introduced Bill 163: a "bubble zone" law that results in the arrest of anyone who verbally or non-verbally communicates a pro-life message—including silent prayer—within 150 metres of an abortion clinic. Every Ontario PC MPP present voted in favour of the bill, including Derek Sloan’s co-conspirator Rick Nicholls.
In 2019, the Ford government tried to impose one such "bubble zone" around an abortion clinic in Kitchener. Belinda stopped the PC government from moving forward with the application. LifeSite News briefly covered that story a year later—click here to read about it.
2. Ford PCs Hide Abortion Data
In 2012, the McGuinty Liberals prohibited the release of any abortion-related information when hospitals were added to Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
For the last seven years, the Ford PCs have continued this attack on transparency. When the CBC requested Northern Ontario's abortion figures in 2019, the PC run Ministry of Health refused to release the data, claiming that it would reveal the location of abortion clinics and put staff at risk.
3. Ford PCs Kept Abortion Clinics Open During Lockdowns
When the Ford PC government shut down Ontario’s economy to "stop the spread" of COVID-19, thousands of life-saving cancer screenings and surgeries were postponed. But when it came to elective abortion under the Ford government’s lockdowns, everything was "business as usual."
When asked if abortion clinics would be closed, a spokesperson for the PC Health Minister said the Ford government would "not be involved in the clinical decision-making of any procedure."
The New Blue is Ontario’s only provincial party with a true grassroots policy process — where you, our members, propose and vote on the ideas that shape our party.
Here are just two of the policies passed at our Policy and Planning Conference in Waterloo last year:
27. Provincial Health Coverage re. Pregnancy
The New Blue Party supports defunding elective abortion.
29. Sanctity of Human Life
The New Blue Party supports the protection and dignity of all human life from conception to natural death.
