Last week, the Doug Ford PCs rammed through the most restrictive changes to Ontario’s Freedom of Information laws in nearly 40 years.
They are hiding phone records and emails to shield backroom deals, applying these rules retroactively and permanently to keep taxpayers in the dark.
Because of their changes to transparency laws, it will be harder to investigate scandals like the PCs’ “skills development” slush fund, where hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars were funnelled to PC-connected companies. Six lobbying firms run by Ford’s top advisors (including Kory Teneycke and Amin Massoudi) were revealed to be tied to $231 million in funding.
The Ford PCs are a tax-and-spend government that operates in the shadows to benefit its cabal of backroom boys.
The New Blue Party is the only viable alternative, running candidates in every Ontario election, standing up for taxpayers, and exposing this corruption — but we cannot do it alone.
