Meet Our By-Election Candidates!
Today, we are proud to officially announce our candidates for Scarborough Southwest and York-Simcoe!
Scarborough Southwest: Chris Rees
Chris Rees brings over 32 years of experience in teaching, business, and accounting as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). He earned his BA in Economics from the University of Guelph and has roots in Northern Ontario and Toronto. As a longtime resident of the region, Chris is dedicated to making life better for Scarborough Southwest taxpayers. Key pillars of his campaign include opposing “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) in the public sector, protecting students from radical school curricula, advocating for a cut to the HST and elimination of Doug Ford’s industrial carbon tax, and challenging the dangerous implications of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).
York-Simcoe: Dr. David Ghobrial
Dr. David Ghobrial is a dedicated physician, community leader, and advocate. Born in Cairo, Egypt, David immigrated to Canada in 1997 and grew up in the GTA. He spent 12 years studying medicine across Canada, the U.S., and Egypt, earning his MD from the University of Alexandria in 2014. For the past seven years, he has served as Clinic Director and CEO of the Beeton Walk-In Clinic. A devoted husband and father of four, David teaches Sunday school and partners with his wife to run Thirsty Ministry, providing meals and worship for the homeless in the GTA and leading international mission trips to Egypt and Zambia. David is committed to expanding healthcare accessibility and defending family values in York-Simcoe.
