Ford's 12% Hydro Cut Promise Turned Into a 29% Hike
Last Saturday, electricity rates in Ontario jumped 29% under the Doug Ford PCs — the same government that promised in 2018 to cut hydro bills by 12%. To mask the true cost, the Ford government increased the Ontario Electricity Rebate from approximately 13.1% to 23.5%. But of course, that doesn’t address the root of the problem; it just shifts the burden from ratepayers to taxpayers.
